The Star

Today I ate at the Star.  The food was amazing, and I don't think it is only because I was awfully hungry and had been up for 8 hours by the time I ate lunch. The Star is this wonderful Basque restaurant in Elko Nevada, where I have been working and it defies description - except that is is almost 100 years old and quaint and good.  I am too tired to come up with other words for it, but you get the picture.  I will fly home tonight, and we will be back to normal tomorrow.  What will I do with an extra 2 and a half hours of sleep in the morning?

PS.  I forgot to mention my favorite thing about Battle Mountain, the armpit I mentioned in my previous blog.  One of the things that contributes to its charm is that, like many other small towns they have the big white letters on the side of the mountain - thats right, a massive white "BM" overlooks the whole town. Including the truckstop where we had our fine meal, where only one of us had a bug in our food (it wasn't me, so I just kept eating).
