She Speaks

Andra's mind works in different ways.  She doesn't always connect on basic concepts, but her heart is in everything she says.

When we were in Flagstaff, we were talking about going to a restaurant and she was saying she didn't remember it.  I told I thought when she saw the restaurant it would ring some bells.  After a quiet moment, she asked "Where would they ring?  In my chest?"  Totally off base, but a lovely way to wonder.

She is very often heard saying "I have no idea what you are talking about", and she really doesn't.  She isn't the least bit embarrassed about it, she just wants to make sure you know she doesn't know.

Yesterday, she found out that one of her close friends is moving away.  After a good cry, she was talking to our neighbor Anna, who was being a great comfort to her.  At the end of the call, Andra said to Anna "Anna, it is so good to have a friend like you around, especially when another friend is moving."  Who says that kind of thing?  The average grown up isn't bold enough to speak like that - but maybe we need to remember to try, every now and then. Andra isn't afraid to speak her mind, but lucky for all of us, she also speaks her heart.
